Oregon state jemstoneThe state jemstone is a sun stone. The gemstone changes colors from the heat . Its colors turn from clear to pink, then to yellow, then after that it changes to deep blue, last but not least to deep red. The gemstone is usually red, but it can turn to the colors that are list above. The colors represent the day that oregon got freedom.

Oregon Audubon society sported a poll of school children. They were the one that chose the Western Meadowlark to be the state bird. This happened in 1927. The Western Meadowlark is still the state bird today. How the natives knew it was by the beautiful song. The colors of the western meadowlark are yellow ,brown, and black.
